The movement is smooth and the hits are crunching, like some sort of peanut butter hybrid that every one of your foes is allergic to. Every bone in their body may be broken and every organ punctured, but of course, they’ll somehow live to commit crimes again. Though hotfixes are flying thick and fast as I finish out this review, for me the patches have so far failed to tackle frequent crashes to desktop. I find it difficult to diagnose my experience—while others have seen wide-ranging performance issues, for me the game runs smoothly, until it suddenly doesn’t.
With the small exception of a Mister Negative boss fight, but he doesn’t do anything until that point. And I applaud them for trying to use new characters; however, it came at the cost of a cohesive universe. It takes a very long time for Venom to show up, some would say too long, but he steals the show the second he does. Everything he does is intimidating, and you feel the power behind every movement. Thanks in no small part to the fact that you get to play as him for a stretch. Don’t worry, Spider-Man 2 also comes with a prequel book to get us hyped (and properly informed) for the next installment in the Spider-Man series, but this time it’s a comic book!
Since the game lets you play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, this motif of them coming together to overcome their villains. While over double the size of its predecessor to start, Spider-Man 2’s size isn’t too surprising. Game files have been getting larger and larger in recent years, and the upcoming adventure already looks to be a bigger and more technically impressive experience.
Standard open-world filler activities are here aplenty, and that’s one area where Spider-Man 2 hasn’t moved with the times or shown ambition at all. Collectibles, photo opportunities, and rather basic street crimes are still here and, despite having a few slightly more interesting quirks this time around, they only very occasionally excite. You’ll regularly be stopping the same getaways with the same few button presses (the button-mashing from previous games is mercifully largely gone) or stopping a break-in by battering the same few goons. The main story took me around 18 hours to complete before I hit 100%, and the subsequent platinum trophy popped up to congratulate my efforts after 27 in total. Despite whatever loftier ambitions the story may have, this is still unapologetically an old-school approach to open-world game design, and nowhere is this displayed more clearly than in its optional quests. Spider-Man 2, and to an extent all great Spider-Man stories, tackle themes of adolescence and puberty – a time of uncertainty for even the most normal of teenagers trying to control bodily fluids.
As Peter goes on a mindless symbiote-induced rampage against the Hunters (even nearly killing Mary Jane at one point), Kraven captures Miles and forces him to fight Li. Miles overcomes his anger towards Li and helps him escape, directing him to find Peter. Despite the disappointment, it’s unlikely that any DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would’ve been very exciting. All of which brings us to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s PC system requirements, with Sony’s minimum specification targeting 720p at 30fps on Very Low settings.
Traverse An Expanded Marvel’s New York
Better still, players can expect the sequel to feature more than 65 suits based on the comics, films, and original designs. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is close, with Insomniac Games currently working on a follow-up to their acclaimed PlayStation title from 2018. From the release date to all the confirmed characters, here’s a full overview of everything we know about the superhero sequel so far. Nixxes is a studio with a great track record for porting games such as this one, with the company ensuring that Nvidia DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3.1, along with Intel XeSS upscaling, are included from day one.

Our walkthrough will cover all the spidey suits, challenging puzzle solutions, collectible locations, FAQs, and more. With new suit styles you can vary different colour patterns to spin your Spider-Man a fresh look, but the new suit tech system allows you to upgrade various attributes, like traversal, damage and health. And from that you can make even more choices to equip specific elements of that attribute.

The book leads directly into the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man, first introducing Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, as he returns to New York, only this time he’s built himself a pretty sturdy reputation as an altruistic entrepreneur and philanthropist. Now you can build up height and speed with web-swinging before quickly switching to Web Wings to glide in areas like Queens, where there are few tall buildings. With the new interactive elements like super slingshots and wind tunnels that act as jet streams, Spider-Man has never been faster in the air. Traversing New York City feels more exhilarating in the sequel, thanks to introducing the new web wings that make getting around easier and more fun. You can’t help feeling that traversal is faster in the sequel, too, partially due to the web wings.
With options like raytracing and ultra-wide support, we want to give players the chance to make full use of their high-end PC gaming rigs. However, at Nixxes we also take pride in making PC games scale down to prior generation hardware. To cater to tg88 , Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC offers a wide range of graphics settings and presets, including options without ray-tracing, like dynamic resolution scaling. Check out an overview of the recommended specifications for a variety of graphics presets below. The main difference in the PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are more advanced ray tracing options.
While Spider-Man 3 hasn’t yet been confirmed by Insomniac, though there hasn’t been much news from the company lately, it would be strange for the successful series to not continue with another sequel. It’s likely that the developers are focusing on the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine, and any new Spider-Man title will come much later. The focus on Wolverine could be another contributing factor as to why Spider-Man 2 didn’t get any new story DLC. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be exclusively released on PS5 on October 20, 2023 at midnight, local time. With users able to pre-download the digital game prior to its release, they will be able to play the game as soon as it’s available for play in the PlayStation store. Gameplay-wise, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is very similar to the series’ previous installments.
